Cherub Choir encourages children to discover their musical gifts through song, movement, and instruments. They participate in worship approximately three times per semester, perform at the annual Christmas concert, and are a part of the Spring musical. Practices are September – May on Sunday afternoons from 3:30-4:15 p.m. in room E206.
Trinity Choir uses Orff instruments, recorders, and singing to further develop children’s musical gifts in preparation for worship leadership and participation in older youth ensembles. They participate in worship approximately three times per semester, perform at the annual Christmas concert, and are a part of the Spring musical. Practices are on Sunday afternoons from 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. (September – May) in E206.
Cappella Youth Choir
Cappella, open to singers in grades 6 – 12, focuses on teaching growing and changing voices to sing skillfully and in harmony. They participate in worship regularly, are an important component in the Christmas and Spring concerts, and have the opportunity to participate in Youth Jam (a regional festival for church youth choirs). Rehearsals are on Sundays from 5:30-6:15 in the choir room.
4G – Youth Praise Band
4G is an opportunity for young musicians (grades 6-12) to praise God with contemporary Christian music while learning to play in a group. 4G provides the musical portion of worship leadership for Youth Group on Sunday evenings. There are also opportunities to lead portions of Sunday morning worship about once per quarter, and other special events such as Youth Sunday, the yearly block party, and other opportunities. Rehearsals take place in the Youth Room (G217) on Sunday afternoons from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
The Chancel Choir is the primary adult choir for the traditional worship services. They sing a wide variety of choral repertoire ranging from masterworks to spiritual, gospel, and hymn arrangements. Rehearsals are in the Choir Room (S109) on Wednesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Chancel Choir prepares two concerts every season. No audition is required, but an individual consultation with the Minister of Music is recommended for vocal part placement.
Using three octaves of handbells, the Celebration Bells plays in worship approximately once per month, and performed in the annual Christmas concert. Rehearsals on Monday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in room E-205.
For an upbeat, fun, and contemporary musical experience, Hyperlink is offered as Shady Grove’s praise band. They lead the 9:45 “Connection” service each week. We are always looking for vocalists and instrumentalists to share their gifts. Contact Paul Bakeman for more information.
