In the United Methodist Church, we believe that baptism is an outward sign of an inward change. It is a sacramental act whereby a person is cleansed by the Holy Spirit and becomes part of the body of Christ-the church universal. Individuals of any age can be baptized only once, and the method can be sprinkling, immersion, or pouring.
