United Women in Faith

Purpose of United Women in Faith (formerly the UMW)

The organized unit of United Women in Faith shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The UWF would like to invite all the women of the church to join us for our November general meeting on Nov. 19th at 9:30 a.m. in rooms G111-113.  The guest speaker will be Margaret Kutz, author of Nevertheless, She Preached.  This is the story of the first two clergywomen ordained by the Virginia Annual Conference of the Methodist Church.  Both were powerful preachers who paved the way for other women of faith to pursue ministry.  Please join us!

Wow, Shady Grove, we are well on the way to achieving our goal of 1000 recipes, now close to 800! We are thrilled with the response to this project and because of your enthusiasm and participation, we are extending the recipe submission deadline to Sunday, November 27, 2022. Even if you have already submitted recipes, you can add more, and if you are now saying “I had planned to but didn’t make the deadline”, well you now have a second chance.  If you don’t want to or cannot enter recipes, make copies and place them in the collection bin in the Missions Zone. We will be glad to do the work for you. The last Shady Grove Cookbook was published in 1986 so we are very excited about our Heritage Cookbook to celebrate the 170th Anniversary of Shady Grove UMC in 2023, so PLEASE enter your favorites and help us achieve our goal!
