Youth Ministries at Shady Grove

Shady Grove offers an exciting and powerful youth ministry dedicated to introducing young people to JesusChrist and helping them grow as disciples.

Open to teens (grades 6-12), they can openly explore their faith as well as enjoy the fellowship of other Christian youth.

2009 Summer Mission Trip

Shady Grove's youth are going to Cedar Rapids, IA July 11-19, 2009 to help with the continued flood recovery.  Check out the video below to see what we will be a part of.  For more information, click on the information link on the left of this page.

The three main components of Shady Grove’s Youth Fellowship are:

 CROSSFIRE- Shady Grove's Sunday Evening Youth Program

Youth grades, 6-12, are invited to CROSSFIRE, our weekly youth gathering on Sunday evenings from 5:45-8 p.m.  Dinner, praise and worship, and a variety of programs offer youth a chance to fellowship as well as to grow in their walk with Christ.

 SPECIAL EVENTS

Throughout the year, Shady Grove offers a variety of special events for youth.  Retreats, mission trips, ski trips, and day events all offer youth an opportunity to develop closer relationships with one another, as well as to grow as disciples in an environment outside of the church and home.

 SMALL GROUPS

The most important element of Shady Grove’s youth ministry, small groups offer a place for youth to develop strong, meaningful relationships, encourage one another in faith, and to learn what it is to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.  Here are a few of the small group opportunities available for youth-

YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL

Offered every Sunday morning, these classes provide youth a place to learn about the Bible and how God’s word is relevant for their lives.

 

Session I  9:30 –10:40 a.m.

             6th Grade                       Room G-218

             7th/8th Grade                 Room G-217

             Grades 9-12                    Room G-213

 

Session II  11:00—12:00 noon

Grades 6-12 Room G-215 

WEDNESDAY EVENING  STUDIES

Part of the “Wednesday Night at the Grove” program, youth in these programs explore Biblical and topical issues, helping them to grow as disciples.  Studies run from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, immediately following the Wednesday evening dinner.  Below is a list of the studies being offered in the fall of 2007.  For more information about this program, contact Brad Robins 746-9073 or bradrobins@shadygroveumc.org.

 

Disciple for Youth
  • 34 week intense study, looking at the entire Bible as the story of God’s relationship with his people and how that     story continues today with us.
  • Led by Camey Chiles and Buz Edwards
  • Regular meetings will be 6-8 pm on Wed. nights in room G-218.
Faith-based Decision Making: A High School Bible Study
  • Led by Dr. Jason Merrick
  • Open to grades 9-12
  • Meets Wed. evenings, 6:30-7:30 pm in room E-105 (across from the library)
