Fall Bible study for Parents of Youth and Children
Wednesday Night at the Grove (6 p.m.)
Location: Chapel
Leader: Dwayne Stinson
When it comes to faith, parents have the largest influence on their children and teens—far more than the church, the youth group, or their peers. Yet the culture of church participation has shifted, and many parents feel uncertain or ill-equipped to provide the guidance their teens need. This fall, Dwayne Stinson will offer an 8-week class based on Raising Teens in an Almost Christian World by Dietrich Kirk. The class will introduce parents to some of the major struggles youth and young adults face. Each session includes research, a Bible passage, and some reflection questions and opportunities to explore practical approaches to parenting. While designed for parents of teens, it is helpful for all parents. For parents of younger children, it offers a head start to begin to practice parenting that may make a difference for your children as they reach their teen years.
The sessions are:
  • Introduction (September 12)
  • Benign Whateverism (September 19)
  • Faith that Bears Fruit (September 26)
  • Passing on the Faith (October 3)
  • Testify (October 17)
  • Transformation through Disorientation (October 24)
  • Hope for Tomorrow (November 7)
  • Final Reflections/What Now? (November 14)
The cost for the book is $8.99, payable at the first class meeting (it is available on Amazon, and copies will be available at the first class.
