Worship Services
Traditional Worship Sunday Morning in Sanctuary 8:15 (Holy Communion) and 11:00 a.m. Using the historic pattern found in The United Methodist Hymnal, traditional worship at Shady Grove uses printed and extemporaneous prayers, readings, choral and solo music, congregational hymns, multiple readings of Scripture, and a strong Biblical sermon to call worshipers into new and renewed relationships with God and with a world in need. This more formal service employs robes, acolytes, crucifers, and other forms of worship arts to celebrate the rich heritage of Christian worship. Holy Communion, open to all worshipers, is celebrated every Sunday morning at the 8:!5 service and on the first Sunday of every month at 11:00. Baptisms and other forms of receiving new members are celebrated third Sundays. A nursery for pre-school age children and infants is provided.
The Connection Sunday Morning Non-Traditional Worship 9:45 a.m. Sanctuary The Connection is a casual dress, interactive, multi-media worship celebration led by a band and singers. Musical selections range from contemporary praise tunes and rock and roll to modern arrangements of historic hymns. Using drama, video clips, a practical message, and special musical settings, the Connection presents the eternal truth of the gospel in new ways to a new generation. Holy Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month. Baptisms and other forms of receiving new members are celebrated third Sundays. A nursery for pre-school age children and infants is provided.
Advent The four Sundays before Christmas, including special children’s and musical programs. Christmas Eve Services at 4:00, 5:30, 7:30, and 11:00. Ash Wednesday Begins the penitential season of Lent by marking foreheads with the sign of the cross. Holy Week Observance of the suffering and death of Christ with Holy Communion and other special worship opportunities. Easter Sunday A service at sunrise to mark the resurrection, in addition to our three regular services. Pentecost Seven weeks after Easter, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thanksgiving Eve Worship with other community churches to remember our blessings. Children’s, Men’s, Women’s, and Youth Sundays Led by different segments of our congregation, celebrating special ministries.
