National Missions Shady Grove has responded to national disasters on several occasions. Below are listed some of the areas that Shady Grove has supported in the past five years. Those interested in participating in a National Mission should fill out the medical release form which is found by clicking this link. If you are a minor you will also need to fill out the Parental Consent form also listed under the link above. Forms should be printed and given to your team leader. Gulf Coast Following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Shady Grove caught a vision of mission. A trailer was purchased and filled with all the necessary tools needed to do construction rehabilitation. As of September 2010, Shady Grove has sent 12 teams to the Gulf Coast to help with clean up, construction, and adding the decorative touches that make a house a home. In October 2010, there will be one more trip to the Gulf Coast to help out the people there that are still living in sub-standard conditions. For more information, please call Bob Newell at 746-9043 or email at rsnewell@comcast.net. Philippi, West Virginia For over 20 years, Shady Grove has sponsored a mission trip to the mountains of West Virginia. This area has a large population of people who are living below the poverty level financially but are strong believers in the Lord. This began as a trip mainly for youth interested in helping others and learning how to be a part of a construction team. The last couple of years has seen an interest from families going to work together on the project. This project is usually scheduled during the last week in July to the first of August. For more information, please contact Beth Goldsmith at 804-746-4142 or email Beth at gregggoldsmith@comcast.net.
